252:Basics is our Sunday kids programme because kids are a part of who we are and we value them highly. Our @10 gatherings look to include them in our times of sharing about our weeks and a specific time of focus on them. We also have a programme that runs during our @10 gathering. This focuses on a key principle (usually the same as in the gathering) and how it can be applied everyday.
You can join us at 10am for our @10 gathering. Alternatively if you arrive at 10:20am you'll still get to enjoy a coffee and be in time for your kids to get into 252:Basics and you can feel free to stay or come back at 11:30 to pick them up. We believe our faith in Jesus should be a vital part of our everyday lives and NOT just a Sunday thing. There is a strong emphasis on relationships and enjoying life together. We also believe that parents play a HUGE part in the journey of their children with God whether they choose to or not. The average church only has 40 hours in a given year to influence a child ... the average parent has 3000 hours per year to influence a life - Think Orange by Reggie Joiner. We will keep parents updated with what is happening with kids so parents can have conversations during the week with them.
The Message translation succinctly captures what we believe our thinking around kids should be. In Deuteronomy 6:7-9 it says: Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
